Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 1 tablespoon juice of freshly squeezed orange (zest optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or maple extract
  • 8 slices brioche
  • 4 tablespoons butter for griddle
  • 1 teaspoon of neutral oil or cooking spray (I prefer grape-seed)
  • 1/2 cup Maple Syrup warmed
  • Fresh fruit, whipped cream, powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat griddle to 350F (If using a skillet, cook on Med-High)
  2. Whisk together cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, eggs, milk, half and half, maple syrup, vanilla, orange juice, and a pinch of orange zest (if using) in a mixing bowl.
  3. Place toast slices on a large cookie sheet, and pour egg mixture over the toast slices. Let the bread soak up the custard for a few minutes, then toss around in the pan to ensure the bread is fully coated
  4. Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side (3-5 minutes total).
  5. Top French Toast with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and powdered sugar.

Enjoy!!!
